Dakar, Senegal & The Toolbox Initiative

Hey friends,

I'm writing today to update you on a recent unveiling within the lives of Matthew Yegge and myself, Liz Fisher, as we have just learned that we may be selected to join the Toolbox Initiative group next spring, on a trip to Dakar, Senegal.

The impact and importance of this trip has to do with a worldwide jeweler community, bringing unity and equanimity to our studio practices, and we would also have the opportunity to learn from some of the most skilled artisans in this field in a completely new and invigorating set and setting.

The Toolbox Initiative was developed by silversmith and author, Matthieu Cheminee, in an effort to bring support to a group of tradesmen that had previously helped him along his jeweler's journey. The initiative collects tools from artisans in North America and the global community to be donated to a neighborhood market of jewelers in Dakar, Senegal on the Western most tip of West Africa's coast.

This is such an incredible opportunity and I feel so lucky to be sharing in this with Matthew, and we are so looking forward to supporting Tim McCreight and Matthieu Cheminee, as well, along this journey. Neither Matthew, nor myself, have yet traveled abroad to Africa, and we know in our bones that this would be a soul enriching, nourishing, and perspective expanding experience.

We're looking forward to sharing photos, trip goals, project ideas, and jewelry collections with you in the near future, so stay tuned. We will begin a GoFundMe account for our trip, pending acceptance, to raise money for our travel expenses, with excess funds going to support jewelers in Senegal as well as the donation of tools to these communities in Dakar.

We can't wait to share more with you! Thank you for your support, continued and ongoing, or just beginning!

All Peace and talk to you soon,
